On February 27, 2026, in Hanoi, Alpha Reinsurance Joint Stock Company (AlphaRe) officially launched, marking a new milestone for Vietnam’s insurance industry amid rapidly evolving and increasingly complex global risk structures.

“The event was attended by leaders of the Ministry of Finance, representatives of the Insurance Association of Vietnam, strategic shareholders, and the Board of Management of Alpha Reinsurance Joint Stock Company.
Speaking at the event, a representative of the Ministry of Finance emphasized:
“The Ministry of Finance encourages companies in the industry to accelerate the adoption of information technology, promote digital transformation, and strengthen risk management capabilities in line with international standards. These efforts will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnam’s insurance market both regionally and globally.””

Over more than 30 years since the issuance of Decree 100-CP on insurance business in 1993, Vietnam’s insurance market has entered a period of strong growth with the establishment of many insurance companies. Within this development journey, the reinsurance sector has recorded three key milestones: VinaRe (1994), PVIRe – now Hanoi Re (2011), and most recently AlphaRe in 2025.
Established at the next stage of the industry’s development, AlphaRe does not position itself merely as a newcomer. Instead, it sees itself as a conscious continuation of the industry’s history, inheriting accumulated experience and knowledge while aspiring to play the role of an “elevating force” for the market.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mr. Lê Hoài Nam – Member of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of AlphaRe – said:
“The world is facing multiple layers of emerging risks, from climate change, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical tensions to cybersecurity threats and large-scale data centers with insured values reaching billions of US dollars. These changes require new approaches to underwriting and risk management. In response, AlphaRe has chosen artificial intelligence (AI) as the ‘heart’ of every decision in its core operations. Technology is not intended to replace people, but to expand and enhance the professional capabilities of Vietnam’s team of experts.”

AlphaRe focuses on digitizing the accumulated knowledge and experience of Vietnam’s insurance market, while developing and training AI models based on data, real-world practices, and the specific risk context of Vietnam.
On that foundation, AlphaRe is built upon the synergy of three core pillars: Vietnamese experience and expertise as the foundation, artificial intelligence as the driving force, and international governance and operational standards as the reference framework.
These three pillars reinforce and amplify one another, shaping a new model that places Vietnamese people and Vietnamese intellect at the center, while operating in accordance with international standards.

AlphaRe’s long-term objective is not only to enhance analytical and risk management capabilities for the domestic market, but also to retain industry knowledge, develop high-quality human resources, and strengthen the role of Vietnamese professionals within the insurance industry’s value chain.
Rather than pursuing growth at any cost, the company prioritizes underwriting discipline, operational standards, and long-term risk management. These principles are considered the foundation for building a sustainable reinsurance company that meets the increasingly demanding requirements of both domestic and international markets.
The establishment of AlphaRe introduces a new approach in Vietnam—one where technology is applied to elevate human capabilities, contributing to stronger internal capacity and resilience for Vietnam’s insurance market in its next stage of development.
